Dale Earnhardt Sr Blanket
Finding Dale Sr fabric has proved to be quite hard for me. A friend ordered a blanket from me, and requested it to be Dale Earnhardt Sr. I was able to find a red fleece Dale Sr print panel on eBay for one side of the blanket, however I couldn't find any other fabric besides 3 pillow panels, which I decided to purchase on eBay as well. With the help of my mom, we found some awesome "pleather" type fabric at Wal-Mart, which has a checkered texture and look to it. I bought some of it and used it on the side of the blanket with the 3 pillow panels. It turned out pretty nice...very Nascar-looking, to be honest! I added a black quilt binding on the edges and this is how it turned out...
I will always remember working on this blanket, because I was working on it in the middle of the night...around 3am central time, my sewing machine broke and was unfixable and unusable. I was so frustrated, as I was almost done with the blanket...I was just sewing on the quilt binding trim. Well, I decided to go to bed. When I got up, my mom and I went and dug her vintage 1977 Singer out of storage and THANK GOODNESS it still works! I was able to finish the blanket! Now I have to buy a new sewing machine. My machine is beyond repair unfortunately. I'll be borrowing my mom's sewing machine until then...
Have a great weekend all!
