Jolly Whales Quilt

A couple of years ago I came across the cutest (and FREE) quilt pattern, Jolly Whales.
*Pattern designed by Janet Clare for Moda.

I decided to make it just for the heck of it.  That was in 2018.  My long-arm quilter friend, Dorie, machine quilted it for me in 2018, as well.  When I got it back from her, I machine stitched the binding on, but then it got set aside before I got around to adding the final stitches onto the whales, which Dorie had left for me to do.  Sadly, Jolly Whales ended up on the UFO pile for almost two years!

Earlier this week while chatting with a coworker, it was mentioned that she's putting together a gift package for her neighbor, who's having a baby boy.  I asked my coworker if she'd give her neighbor the quilt for me if I finish it... so last night I pulled it off the UFO pile and finished it.  The photos aren't the greatest since I didn't have any natural light, but I had to give it to my coworker today, so there was no other time than late last night to take some pictures.

Here's how my Jolly Whales quilt turned out...

"A Person's A Person No Matter How Small!"

...a Dr Seuss crib quilt

A friend of mine is soon to be having a baby, and she asked how much it would cost to have me make her a Dr Seuss themed crib quilt.  There was no way I was going to make her pay me for a quilt for her baby-to-be!  I told her I'd make one as a gift for her and baby.

So I found a variety of fabrics to put into this quilt...  One fabric was from JoAnn Fabrics, a couple I purchased on eBay, a couple others I purchased at Herrschner's in Stevens Point, WI, and a couple were found right in my stash!

The photos show what I came up with for her baby's crib quilt,
which I named after one of Dr Seuss' quotes:

Harley Davidson Themed Crib Quilt & Bumper Set

Over the last couple of months I've been working on this project using Harley Davidson logo fabrics purchased on eBay, with coordinating black, orange and flame fabrics that I purchased in local stores.

I finished the quilt a couple weeks ago, and just finished the bumper last night.

I love making themed projects, and when I was asked to make this crib quilt and matching bumper, I was thrilled!
