Mini Heart Pillows!

With Valentine’s Day soon approaching, I’m making s few themed gifts for a couple of craft swaps that I’m participating in.  And one of my favorite things to make are these heart pillows from a pattern called Box ‘O Chocolates on the Sew4Home site.  This particular pillow is smaller than the original size so it’s easier for shipping to my swap partner.  I made it smaller by printing the template smaller.  So fun to make and give as gifts!

Memoir Poem Pillow

I just LOVE making these heart shaped pillows by Sew4home!

This pillow uses the pattern / tutorial that you can access for free on their site, however I added the extra touch of a poem in memory of a friend's loved one, printed on printable fabric sheets, and using machine applique to attach it.  I love how it turned out...

"Roses In The Garden" ...for my mom

Now that we've all opened our Christmas present for the season, I can post pictures of the quilt set I made for my mom.  She asked me to make her a quilt in 2011, and I finally got one made for her, along with some shams and bed pillows...

Silhouette: A Black Rose Quilt

Now that Christmas is over, I can finally start posting some pictures of my most recent projects!  One of which is this queen bed quilt "Silhouette: A Black Rose Quilt" and the matching shams & bed pillows.  This was given to my brother and sister-in-law for Christmas.

Harley Throw Pillows

Made from scraps of Harley Davidson fabric I purchased on eBay...the picture shows the back of the pillow on the left and the front of the pillow on the right...

These are one-of-a-kind pillows!

I pieced together scraps of remnant fabric pieces...quilting the top for added depth.

Boutique Pillow Covers

I have really gotten into making pillows lately.  I just love making them!  Especially quilted and patchwork pillows.  Here are a few recent ones that I made...

The pattern for these two Boutique Pillows is from the Annie's Attic Creative Quilters Fabric Club, Girly Girl Fabric Collection Monthly Kit.  The pillow with the pink flower, these fabrics came with the kit.  The pillow with the green flower, the fabrics were from my stash.  Pink and white trims were also from my stash.

As shown here, I put a zipper on the pillow cover and filled it with pillow stuffing.

This last picture shows the pillow at an angle so you can see the quilted/raised look of the pillow.

Themed Blankets & a Pillow for a School Fundraiser...

My son goes to parochial school, and they host a Winter Festival every year around early to mid February.  The classrooms put together a themed gift basket to auction off at the Festival in order to help raise money for their school.  My son's classroom is putting together a Family Game Night theme, and another classroom is putting together a Camping theme.  I've made blankets for each of these themed gift baskets...

Camping/Picnic Themed Blanket

 I used a red canvas for the back of this picnic blanket to make it more durable.
I purchased the red canvas from JoAnn's Fabrics in Janesville, WI.
The cute Ants on a Picnic fabric was an eBay purchase sometime during the summer of 2010.  I saw it online and fell in love with it, always intending it to be for a picnic blanket.  To add some size to the Ants on a Picnic panel, I added squares of some scrap fabrics I had leftover from previous blanket projects.

Basic black quilt binding finishes off the edges w/a red zig zag stitch.
