"Lover's Square Dance"

2018 was the year for finishing a few UFO's, and this here is one of them.  This quilt was an Agatha & Sherlock's 2015 Valentines Mystery Quilt Project through Homespun Hearth.  I used fabrics from my stash, not knowing how it would turn out., and in the end, I loved it!

I ended up donating this quilt to the 2018 Quilts For A Cure quilt auction.

"Lost In Paradise"

This quilt was part of a Homespun Hearth QAL: Agatha & Sherlocks Worldwide Quilt Day Mystery 2015 that I participated in but never finished until the summer of 2018.  I have a bad habit of joining  QAL's and never finishing...I have a UFO pile of them!  However, I'm so glad to finally have this one off the UFO pile!

  The top is made using bold colors and a border of planet / outer space fabrics.  The back is just scrappy, using some leftover fabric from the top, as well as plain black fabric and some vintage Space Odyssey 2000 fabric that I found at a local thrift store.

I designed my quilt label with PicMonkey Pro, and had it printed on fabric via my spoonflower.com account. 

One less unfinished quilt on the pile for 2018!

 

Vacation Time: Block 1 update

I like this block so much that I decided to make more than one.  So as I participate in Pat Sloan's 2015 Mystery QAL: Vacation Time, I will be making 4 quilts total instead of just one.

Here are my blocks for the first step... (There are 2 skull blocks, but I wasn't sure if I'd like dark or light color ways better until after making them... I like the light color way better).

Note: I am strictly using all stash fabric for these quilt projects and won't be buying any fabric for them... It's part of my goal to use up stash fabric that's been sitting around for way too long.

Another Pat Sloan Mystery QAL!

Last year I participated in Pat Sloan's Globetrotting Mystery QAL, and my quilt top is off at the long-armers waiting to be quilted.

Now I'm participating in Pat Sloan's 2015 mystery quilt project called "Vacation Time."  I plan to make 3 or 4 versions of this new mystery quilt... I've started with a skull theme to use up some skull fabric from my stash... Here's a picture of the first step...January's block:

I have some Harley Davidson fabric I plan to use for another version, and then I want to find some cute or pretty fabric from my stash to put into another version.  I love this block and how fantastic it works for fussy cutting focal fabrics!

I finally got this Mystery Quilt finished and am going to sell it.

It's the perfect size for the back of a couch or to drape over the foot of your bed.

MQ6 - Finally Finished!

One of my least favorite things to do is put the binding on a quilt.  I am not very good at it, and it takes me awhile to get it right.  Maybe I should take a class sometime... LOL!

But anyways, after months of just sitting on a quilt rack in my sewing room, my MQ6 quilt finally got finished.

My Quilters Club of America MQ6 Quilt: Progress Update

Yesterday after work, I picked up my Quilters Club of America MQ6 quilt from The Quilting Place in Almond, Wisconsin, where I took it to have it long-arm machine quilted.
Nancy Butolph, Owner of The Quilting Place, did a BEAUTIFUL job on the quilting!  

(I wish I could do my own quilting, but I don't have a machine capable of doing so, so I have to outsource it until I can someday get myself a quilting machine).  

I wasn't super impressed with how plain the quilt top looked before having it quilted, but after seeing it quilted, I just love how it turned out!

Now I just have to bind it and it'll be complete!
